Card Tricks for Kids
I had someone ask me recently asking if the Svengali Magic Card Deck is appropriate for a six year old. I don’t recommend that trick deck of cards for anyone younger than 9 years old.
That doesn’t mean someone younger than 9 won’t be able to do it, but generally most kids under 9 will have a lot of trouble. The most basic skill your kid will need to do most card tricks will be to deal cards and to shuffle cards. If your child can’t do both of those things, you’d be better off getting a normal pack of cards and teaching them to shuffle and deal cards.
Why can’t I get them the deck and teach them with the trick deck? Well besides the fact that the cards will be useless as a magic trick until the kid can learn…it can also be very frustrating to have something cool, but you have to grow into it before you can use it to its full potential. It’d be like getting a 7 year old who plays tee ball a pair of cleats in an adult size 7 and and making them wear them while they play little league. The cleats won’t help the kid run and are basically worthless at this point.
So my point is pay attention to recommend ages, I put them there for a reason!
