Card Magic Tricks for Kids…

I’m frequently asked which of the magic card tricks that I sell, the Eureka Magic Cards or the Svengali Magic Cards are better for a kid to start out with.  Both packs of magic cards are easy to do…however ANY card is not necessarily the best choice for a younger kid.

The basic skill requirement for doing card tricks is to be able to shuffle a pack of card.  If you child can’t shuffle cards then they will have a difficult time doing any magic card trick.

A lot of people think that getting their kid a trick magic deck of cards THEN teaching them to shuffle is the way to go.  In my experience as a father and as a magic instructor that will lead to a frustrated kid…the magic card deck is useless until they learn to shuffle it.

So please teach your kid how to shuffle a pack of cards before you get them a pack of magic cards, in the long run it’s a better way to go.

Another thing to consider with younger (and some older) kids is to be sure they know the names of the four suits of cards and can identify them.  You’d be amazed at how many older kids don’t know them!

Once you kid knows the basics of how to shuffle a pack of cards and can tell them apart they are ready to start learning card magic tricks!
