Cinco de Mayo Magic Trick

One thing that I like doing is trying to think up a little magic trick for holidays each month. It’s one of the things that keep my brain thinking and something that your kids can do with the magic tricks from their magic kit.

For example on the first day of summer they could do the floating wand magic trick that’s in the Amazing Magic Kit with a freshly cut flower. Here’s something that I came up with for Cinco de Mayo last year:

Earlier this week I returned from a four day tour performing in theaters in Oregon. We had some big sell out crowds on the tour and it was a ton of fun, but it’s good to be home. After some of the shows I sold the Amazing Magic Kits and / or magic books. This week I’ve been getting some very positive emails from parents that got their kids magic kits or books.

One dad emailed me letting me know that his kid loved magic so much that he’s been sleeping with the magic wand he got from me!

All that it takes for a kid to get inspired is to see a great magic show (like mine)! When your kid see what’s possible they will fall in love with learning magic tricks and add in a magic kit and a bit of practice and they’ll be dazzling people in no time.

Easter Magic Trick

Here’s a fun little magic trick / stunt you can do when you visit your family for Easter which is coming up in about a month. It’s the Amazing Egg Balancing Trick. You have people try to balance an egg on it’s point. Of course that’s impossible so no one can…until you show them!

Here’s how you do it, you’ll need an egg (hard boiled or straight from the chicken) and a bit of salt:


You need an egg and some regular table salt


Balance the egg in the pile of salt


Let go of the egg



Gently blow across the table to remove salt and Viola! the egg is balanced!

Magic Kit Buying Tip!

One thing to consider when you are shopping for a magic kit for your kid is the number of magic tricks in the magic kit. Most people would think that more magic trick is better…but in my opinion that’s wrong.

Having a magic kit with 117 magic tricks sounds like a great magic kit, but that many magic tricks can be overwhelming to a kid. A kid will want to try all the magic tricks, but not know where to start. Also with trying to learn a million tricks at once your kid won’t be focusing on learning a handful of tricks well, instead they will be doing a lot of tricks horribly. Another thing to consider is a magic kit with 100 things is a lot of small parts to lose!

A good range of magic tricks in a magic kit for a kid is somewhere between half a dozen and two dozen magic tricks. That’s enough to give a kid variety and still a not enough to be overwhelming.
